Governor Doyle announced Wisconsin will receive $823 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds to build high-speed rail service. The funds will be used to build rail service between Madison and Milwaukee, to improve service between Chicago and Milwaukee, and to make final determinations on a route between Wisconsin and the Twin Cities, the next step toward connection Chicago, Milwaukee and Madison with the Twin Cities.

Governor Jim Doyle signed Assembly Bill 458 at the State Capitol on February 24, 2010. The bill, known as the “Healthy Youth Act,” requires schools that teach sex education to do so in a responsible, comprehensive manner that includes information about abstinence and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and pregnancy prevention strategies, such as birth control and condom use. It was passed in the Senate on January 28, 2010.
